Tar & Chip Paving Solutions
Chip Seal Paving, also known as Tar & Chip, is an effective and affordable method of asphalt paving. It’s a popular option among homeowners, business owners, and property managers throughout the Austin region and Central Texas. Chips are used to protect a weathered surface by sealing the old asphalt to prevent moisture from entering the pavement. People have been relying on chip and seal services as an affordable option for driveways, ranch roads, private drives and more.
Chip and Seal Paving Process
The Tar and Chip process is similar to asphalt paving, but instead of using 100% pure asphalt, we layer asphalt and aggregate alternatively. Chip Seal, at its core, is the application of a liquid polymer modified emulsion immediately followed by an application of an aggregate. The aggregate is then rolled and embedded into the binder, meanwhile the binder “weeps up” and fills the voids between rocks. The completed driving surface will perform for several years with minimum maintenance costs. The finished product will provide an all weather, skid resistant surface that produces a water resistant layer.
